A boy terrorist escapes the dystopian Tokyo to go to the suburban Inubosaki. There he is found by a boy called Kevin and his father Johnny, who are the owners of an ice cream truck. Then they go back to eliminate society which is run by robots

Why is the boy terrorist octopus shaped?
His biomechanic father's every piece of knowledge is in his weird octopus legs
His father is sent to prison but escapes to board the submarine powered by her mother's brains
Johnny is also trying to take out cogs who work for the govt
Kevin's body is kept alive by Johnny's invention, a consciousness which we never find out if its a programming or if it is real
But Kevin really wants to be a "real boy" but his father's refusal to accept Kevin's death turns him into a philosophical zombie
Jane is an orphan whom Octo loves, and provides exposition for why they want to kill cogs
Criticism on consumerism
Octo has to await his father's orders
Octo tries to readjust to civilian life through the means of an ice cream truck, thinking his father will never return
interacting with normal people for the first time
His primary interaction is with Kevin but finds out through drunk Johnny that he isn't even human
Johnny represents the absurdity and awesomeness of humanity
He plays the piano and finds pleasure in cooking, italian
Octo's mother is the auto pilot for a nuclear submarine and is now only a brain, the rest of her body has atrophied
At the end octo's parents die and Kevin's body also dies and Emily is alive
